Lillian's love of sewing

and creating began when she took her first sewing class at the age of 14. Since that time she has honed the craft and skill through practice, classes from experts and internships. Lillian graduated from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a Bachelor of Arts degree and an emphasis on textiles. Now her area of focus is developing new lines of clothing under the "Lillian by Design" label as well as designing and creating Demi-Couture clothing for individual clients.

When designing wearable art, Lillian's goal is to make each piece unique, specifically fitted to the individual. One fun design is the Teddy Bear Coat which uses reclaimed stuffed animals. She continues exploring ways to make items from reclaimed stuffed animals. Other wearable art includes weavings inserted into garments and sculptural loops. Each day finds her trying new things.

Lillian's shop in Alton is an inviting corner of the world where she works, explores ideas, offers internships, teaches and, of course, sells her clothing creations as well as the work of other fiber artists.
