Sarah Thomasson of University City is hosting a Trunk Show to introduce Lillian Bates of By Design, Alton, IL. Lillian is responsible for bringing Trish's spoonflower.com fabrics to life. Come by any time between 3-6pm on Sunday, February 19th at 6917 Waterman Avenue, University City, Missouri. Have a glass of wine, cheese, fruit and visit! Lillian will show you some of her clever creations and current work. Prepare to be inspired by her attention to detail, skills and her charm.
Bring your good ideas, pictures of things you fantasize about having made, fabric you want transformed, alterations, clothes you cannot bear to part with but need a tweak to update the look. Just ask Lillian what she can do to create, revive and recreate!

Lillian spoke and presented at the Godfrey Women's Club Regional Convention. The talk was "Our Body Types and How to Dress Them." Women really struggle with what works on our individual body type and the clothing industry does little to help in this area. Lillian demonstrated how skirts should fit correctly on different body types as well as how to select a top with accessories that work.
By Design participated in The Telegraph Annual Bridal Show at Lewis & Clark Community College. This Bridal Show has grown over the years to include vendors that work all areas of your wedding and some things you might not have thought of!
Lillian spoke at the Wood River Women's Club.
Heads & Threads for Love is the brain child of Conya Cowan of Fringe Hair Salon (she is the Heads), Lillian Bates of By Design (she is the Threads) and Allyson Smith. Allyson is involved with Love 146, an organization dedicated to halting abuse of children. The show took place at Jacoby Art Center, 627 Broadway in Alton. It had a wonderful turnout with over one hundred guests for this fashion display and cocktail party. Check out this video clip of the show.

By Design participated in a group Fashion Show in support of the Community Hope Center in Cottage Hills, IL. Other participating shops included Cato Fashions, Iris and Macy's. Lillian created five original looks for this show.
